A brief history of Rene M. Caisse: the creator of ESSIAC®
Raised in Bracebridge,
Ontario, Canada Rene M. Caisse pursued a career in nursing. During
her duties as head nurse at Sisters of Providence Hospital, Haileybury,
Ontario, Canada she discovered an Ojibway herbal formula that helped
restore health to one of her patients. From 1922 to 1978 Nurse Caisse
used her original formula to help ease the pain and suffering of thousands
of sick and infirm people. She named her breakthrough product: ESSIAC®
- her name spelled backwards.
During the years
from: 1922 to 1978 Rene Caisse's breakthrough formula was met with
considerable resistance. However in 1938 a remarkable event ensued:
55,000 supporters signed a petition requesting that the legislature
of the Government of Ontario permit Rene Caisse to continue treating
patients without federal prosecution. Her supporters included doctors,
scientists and patients. In 1977, a year before she died, Rene Caisse
signed over sole rights of her original herbal formula and trademark
to "Resperin Canada", a Canadian company. Resperin gave her the assurance
that ESSIAC® be produced and distributed for the sole purpose of helping
people who were suffering from poor health and disease. ESSIAC® has
since withstood the test of time and is distributed worldwide.
